Battle for Moscow

The game simulates the German army's attack on the Soviet capital of Moscow in 1941 during World War II, called The Battle of Moscow. The game recreates this historical event through maps, pieces, and rule books. Players can take on the role of a German or Soviet and use tactics and strategy to win the game. The objective of the game is to take control of Moscow, with the German player required to capture Moscow within a specified period to win the game, while the Soviet player is required to hold on to Moscow until the end of the game. The game has unit movement, combat, resupply, and other strategic elements, and various rules and mechanics are designed to provide a realistic combat experience.

The core rules of the Defense of Moscow game include the following:

Objective: The German objective was to capture Moscow within a specified number of rounds; The Soviet goal was to stop the Germans until the end of the game.

Turn-based: The game is usually divided into several turns, each representing a certain time in history.

Unit operation: Players operate by moving units in a hexagonal grid, such as infantry, tanks, etc.

Combat: Attack and defense determine the outcome by comparing combat effectiveness and rolling dice.

Control Area: Each unit controls the hexagonal area around it, influencing enemy movement and supply lines.

Replenishment: Players can replenish or replace lost units during their turn.

Victory condition: At the end of the specified turn, the player in control of Moscow wins. If the Germans fail to capture Moscow, the Soviet player wins.

Supply cycle: Normally, German troops are resupplied every two turns.

Change the rules: To allow supply opportunities at every turn.

New rule: Germans who capture a specific city receive a basic supply unit (per turn).

Specific adjustment examples:

Round 2 and beyond: During the replenishment phase of each German round, provide reinforcements of 2 infantry units and 1 armored unit.

Key City capture: Whenever the Germans capture a hexagon marked as a key target (such as an important city or resource point), they gain an additional armored or mechanized unit in the next replenishment phase.

Number and type of reinforcements:

German reinforcements: At the beginning of the game, the German Army is given two additional infantry divisions and one armored division for initial deployment.

Beginning with the second round, during the replenishment phase of each German round, one armored division and two infantry divisions could be added as reinforcements.

Whenever the Germans captured a major target city, they were immediately rewarded with an additional mechanized or panzer division.
